Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series Could Include Two FE Editions

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Lineup May Feature Tab S9 FE and S9 Lite Models

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 series could include two lower-cost FE (Fan Edition) models alongside its standard, Plus, and Ultra variants. These potential new additions, the Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 Lite, have recently been spotted on Geekbench with model numbers SM-X516B and SM-X616B.

FE Models Reappear in Samsung’s Tablet Lineup

Samsung’s FE tablets and phones have been absent from recent releases, such as the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy S22. However, the appearance of these models on Geekbench suggests that the Fan Edition series might be making a comeback, with possible Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy S23 FE devices on the horizon.

Specifications and Performance of the Tab S9 FE and S9 Lite

The benchmark listings for the new devices indicate they will be powered by the mid-range Exynos 1380 chipset and run on Android 13 OS. The SM-X616B is expected to feature 8GB of RAM, while the SM-X516B will have 6GB of RAM. In Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, the SM-X616B scored 980 and 2,344 points, respectively, while the SM-X516B scored 991 and 2,410 points.

FE Devices Target a Balance of Price and Performance

FE tablets and phones are typically aimed at consumers seeking reliable devices without the flagship-level price tag. By reintroducing the FE models in the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Samsung may be attempting to hit the sweet spot between price and performance, similar to Apple’s strategy with its iPad lineup.
