Microsoft Allegedly Expands Windows Tablet Lineup with New Screen Sizes and Processor Options
Microsoft is reportedly planning to release two new Windows tablets later this year, including a smaller 11-inch Surface Pro and an ARM-powered Surface Go “4.”
11-inch Surface Pro and ARM-Powered Surface Go “4”
According to Windows Central, the 11-inch Surface Pro, codenamed “Luxor,” will offer a flagship display with a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to its 13-inch sibling. Meanwhile, the Surface Go “4,” codenamed “Tanta,” will feature a Snapdragon 7c-based processor, with improved power efficiency and battery life. An Intel processor variant of the Surface Go “4” will also be available.
Design and Touch-Focused Optimizations
The fourth-generation Surface Go is expected to differ drastically from its predecessor in design. Microsoft is also working on enhancing its touch-centric user experience for small devices, planning to make File Explorer more touch-friendly and improve the lock screen/desktop experience on tablets with various display sizes.
Two Versions of Surface Go 4 and Surface Pro Screen Size Expansion
Microsoft is reportedly offering two processor options for the Surface Go 4: one based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7c chip and another with an Intel processor. The company is also planning to introduce an 11-inch Surface Pro model, adding more options for screen size and performance in its tablet lineup.
Pricing for the new tablets has not been revealed, but the current Surface Go 3 starts at $400, while the Surface Pro 9 begins at $1000.
