Elon Musk Announces Plans to Develop TruthGPT AI Venture, Aiming to Challenge OpenAI and Google

Elon Musk Reveals Plans for New AI Venture “TruthGPT” to Rival OpenAI and Google

In a recent Fox News interview, Elon Musk shared his intention to develop a new artificial intelligence (AI) venture called “TruthGPT.” The project’s goal is to create a “maximum truth-seeking AI” dedicated to understanding the nature of the universe and promoting more good than harm. This initiative is driven by Musk’s concerns about the potential threat AI poses to humanity and his belief that existing AI chatbot ChatGPT has a politically correct bias.

Musk’s Relationship with OpenAI and Formation of X.AI Corp

Elon Musk has a history with OpenAI, the company responsible for developing ChatGPT. He was an early investor and co-chaired its board upon its 2015 founding as a nonprofit AI research lab. However, Musk resigned from the board in early 2018 due to potential conflicts of interest with Tesla’s work on automated driving systems and differing opinions with OpenAI’s leadership.

Recently, Musk incorporated a new business called X.AI Corp. Although its connection with the planned TruthGPT venture remains unclear, the formation of the new company has sparked speculation about Musk’s ambitions in the AI field.

Concerns Over the Direction of AI and OpenAI’s Partnership with Microsoft

Musk has expressed apprehension about the direction AI is heading and the potential dangers it presents to humanity. He has also criticized OpenAI for transforming into a for-profit business and establishing a close partnership with Microsoft. Through the development of TruthGPT, Musk aims to create a third option in the AI landscape that will prioritize the pursuit of truth and understanding over potential biases or commercial interests.

Twitter’s Upcoming Encrypted Direct Messaging Feature

In addition to his AI aspirations, Elon Musk, now the CEO of Twitter, teased an upcoming encrypted direct messaging feature for the platform. This feature, which is expected to launch within the next month, will allow users to toggle encryption on for sensitive conversations. This added layer of privacy will ensure that even Twitter’s own employees cannot access the content of these encrypted messages. Encrypted direct messaging has been a long-rumored addition to the platform, and Musk, a known fan of encrypted messaging apps, has previously stated that Twitter should offer Signal-style encryption for its users.

As Elon Musk’s plans for TruthGPT and Twitter’s encrypted messaging feature unfold, the tech world eagerly awaits the impact these developments will have on the AI landscape and social media communication.
