Apple’s EarPods Set to Adopt USB-C Alongside iPhone 15 Launch: A Shift Towards Universal Connectivity

Apple’s EarPods Prepare for USB-C Transition, Aligning with iPhone 15 Release and Universal Connectivity

Recent reports suggest that Apple’s wired EarPods are on the verge of adopting the universal USB-C standard, moving away from the proprietary Lightning port. This change is expected to coincide with the highly anticipated iPhone 15 launch, which will also likely feature a USB-C port.

Mass Production of USB-C
EarPods Signals a Shift Towards Universal Compatibility

ShrimpApplePro, a reliable leaker, revealed on Twitter that MFi (Made For iPhone) USB-C EarPods and cables have already entered mass production, with Apple selecting Foxconn as the supplier. The new USB-C EarPods are intended to be fully compatible with the iPhone 15 and other Apple devices using the universal connector, such as MacBook laptops and iPad Pro tablets.

EarPods’ Future Pricing and Enhanced Sustainability with USB-C Adoption

Currently, Apple sells two versions of the EarPods, one with a Lightning port and the other with a 3.5mm audio jack, both priced at $19. The pricing for the upcoming EarPods with USB-C has not been disclosed. While this transition to USB-C is seen as a step towards improved sustainability and universal connectivity, it may also reduce compatibility with older devices still reliant on the Lightning port.
