Asus Unveils ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate Gaming Smartphones
Asus has announced its latest gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and feature up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Ultimate variant boasts an AeroActive portal for improved cooling and an iconic ROG Vision display on the back, setting it apart from the base model.
Improved Gaming Performance and Features
The ROG Phone 7 series comes with numerous enhancements to gaming performance, including the GameCool7 cooling system, AeroActive Cooler 7, and a 165Hz Samsung AMOLED display. The cooling system consists of a Boron Nitride layer, dual Graphite sheets, a Rapid-cycle Vapor Chamber, and the efficiency benefits provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This combination results in sustained gaming performance unmatched by any other phone.
The devices also offer AI-powered and customizable AirTrigger ultrasonic shoulder controls for an edge in gaming, supporting gestures like Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming. The X-axis linear vibration motor provides vibration mapping for realistic haptic feedback for on-screen buttons and actions. Ray tracing capabilities in supported games allow for more realistic reflections on water and metal surfaces, further enhancing the gaming experience.
Audio quality is not neglected, as the new AeroActive Cooler 7 has a built-in 5-magnet super linear subwoofer with a 13*38mm speaker, and when paired with the ROG Phone 7’s stereo speakers, provides 2.1 audio with stronger bass. The cooler also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack with Dirac tuning.
Camera and Battery Specifications
The ROG Phone 7 series retains a similar camera system to its predecessor, featuring a 50MP IMX766 main camera, a 13MP ultrawide unit, and a 5MP dedicated macro shooter on the back. The front camera boasts a 32MP OmniVision OV32C Quad-Bayer sensor that outputs 8MP images. A 6,000mAh battery (split into two 3,000mAh parts for better cooling) with 65W charging support ensures extended gaming sessions.
Availability and Pricing
The ROG Phone 7 is now available for pre-order in Europe and Taiwan, with the base model starting at €999 (approximately HKD 8,618) and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate priced at €1,399 (approximately HKD 12,070).
