Google Partners with Replit to Launch AI-Powered Coding, Challenging Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot

OpenAI partnered with Microsoft GitHub to launch the GitHub Copilot AI programming tool, which has successfully transitioned into commercial use. Recently, Google announced a partnership with online IDE developer Replit to introduce AI-based smart coding, challenging Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot.

Google and Replit Collaboration

As per the agreement between Google and Replit, Google will grant the startup access to its vast computational resources and custom AI models. In return, Google will host and provide Replit’s code editing software on Google Cloud.

This means that developers using Google Cloud and Workspace will now have access to Replit’s AI programming tool, Ghostwriter.

In addition, Ghostwriter will benefit from Google’s services and access to its foundational models.

Ghostwriter: An AI-Powered Coding Assistant

Replit claims that Ghostwriter supports over 20 million developers and has helped generate more than 30% of users’ code.

As AI-driven coding assistants gain traction, Google’s partnership with Replit and the introduction of Ghostwriter will further intensify the competition with Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot.
