WhatsApp Testing Wear OS App on Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch 5

WhatsApp Begins Beta Testing of Wear OS App

WhatsApp is expanding its reach in the wearable tech space by testing its application on the Wear OS platform. The trial is being conducted on devices like the Pixel Watch and the Galaxy Watch 5.

Features of the WhatsApp Wear OS App

The new application offers a range of features similar to its mobile counterpart. Users can view recent chats and contacts, send voice and text messages, and access settings and security notifications. After opening a conversation, users can scroll to see past messages and can reply by recording a voice message or using the system keyboard. The ‘Open on phone’ feature offers a seamless transition between devices.

Setting Up WhatsApp on Wear OS

To set up the app, users must have the beta version of WhatsApp on their phone. After installing the app on the watch, an eight-digit alphanumeric code is displayed, which users must enter into the mobile app. The setup process is straightforward, fostering a user-friendly experience.

Integration with Wear OS

WhatsApp’s Wear OS app embraces first-party capabilities by offering a circular complication showing unread messages. Additionally, two tiles for contacts and voice messages allow quick access to conversations or initiating voice message recordings.

Interested users can sign up for the WhatsApp beta https://www.whatsapp.com/android“>here. Ensure both your Android phone and watch are running version 2.23.10.10+ to avoid sign-in issues. If the app doesn’t appear in the on-watch Play Store, install it from the listing on your phone.
